As the name suggests the F8BII STEP caters for bigger, more powerful waves and water movement in mind - this is a board you reach for when the waves are cooking. Sleek in outline with the centre point forward which focus's on paddle power. Narrow in back half of the outline for quicker rail to rail manoeuvrability and stability. Rocker combining with bottom design to maximize speed, flow and control - the F8BII is a no-bullshit step up you can rely on when your local turns it on. Built for waves 4 to 6+ foot.
SHOP NOWHowie recommends a Rounded Pin tail for the 'F8B11 Step' model, which comes as standard. However, if you prefer an alternate / specific tail shape, be sure to place your order via our CUSTOM ORDER FORM. Note: This model also performs well when ordered as: Baby Swallow (Slightly narrower tail block for more directional drive when the waves are PUMPING!).
Sharp in outline with centre point well forward. Elongating the outline in shape. The centre point being moved forward adjusts the wide point to be under your chest for paddle power and also volume distribution. The foam is where you need it and the sleek back half of the board is for bite and quick action in the bigger more powerful conditions.
Low soft boxy. The volume of the foam is further up on the deck towards the centre of the board than in the shape of the rail. This allows the rail to penetrate the water with ease while having flotation.
Single double inside the single concave. The single concave entry combines with the nose rocker for a quick take off with hold into that all important bottom turn, then as the board comes off the bottom the back end locks in with the deeper single concave and double inside breaking the suction of the water to add drive and manoeuvrability for control down the line.
Curvy nose entry with longer curve through back half of the board. The curve in the nose allows for ease during take off. Back half of the board allows you freedom to drive and arch with control.
